Short answer

How much is paint protection film in Colorado Springs?

Which level fits depends on the vehicle and how you drive it, and the exact panels are confirmed when we look at the car rather than quoted off a photo.

How much of the car do you want covered?

The decision is not really about film, it is about how much of the vehicle you want taking hits on your behalf. Exact panels are confirmed on the car — we do not quote coverage off a photograph.

Entry Level Coverage

The front bumper, and nothing else. It is the smallest piece of film worth fitting and it goes exactly where the gravel lands first — the bumper takes more hits than any other panel on a car, by a wide margin. The right call when the budget has a ceiling and you want it spent where the damage actually happens.

Straight answer

Is film worth it on your vehicle?

Sometimes the answer is no, and we will say so. Film on a car you are trading in next spring is money you will not get back.

Worth it if

You are keeping the vehicle, you commute on I-25 or Powers, or you just took delivery of something you do not want stone-chipped in its first winter. A repaint costs more than the film would have, and a repainted panel is never quite the original finish again.

Probably not if

The car is going back on a lease in a year, or the paint is already chipped and you are not correcting it first. Film goes over what is there — it does not hide damage, and putting it over chips locks them in the same way a coating does.

How the film behaves

Light scratches heal themselves.

This is the property most people do not know film has, and it is the reason a filmed bumper still looks new at year five while a bare one does not.

3M’s own words: the film’s technology “allows minor scratches to disappear by themselves, keeping the film and your vehicle finish looking new.”

The top layer is elastic. Push a fine scratch or a swirl into it and it wants to return to flat, and heat speeds that up — a warm day, sun on the panel, or a warm rinse will bring marks out faster than a cold garage will. It is the light marring that normally dulls a front bumper over a few years, and on film it does not accumulate.

What it does not do is fix a cut that goes all the way through. Film takes the stone so your paint does not, and a hard enough hit will mark the film permanently — which is the point. That is damage you are not having repainted.

Heals out

Swirl marks, wash marring, fine scratches in the film’s surface, the haze that builds up on a bumper from years of road film and washing.

Does not heal out

A cut through the film, a deep gouge, or a stone hit hard enough to mark it. The film has done its job at that point — the paint underneath is untouched.

Backed by 3M

The film carries a manufacturer warranty.

Yellowing, bubbling and cracking are covered by 3M, not by us — and unlike the coating guarantee, it transfers with the vehicle if you keep the paperwork. Full terms, what is excluded, and how a claim works.

The question we get most

Film or ceramic coating? Both, in that order.

They are not alternatives. They do different jobs, and the order they go on in is not a preference — it is the only order that works.

A ceramic coating is measured in microns. It changes how the surface behaves — water sheets off, contamination struggles to bond, washing gets easier and the gloss holds. What it has none of is impact resistance. No coating at any price stops a stone.

Film is thick, and it is the only thing in the building that takes an impact instead of passing it to your paint. What film does not do is cover the whole car at a price most people will pay, which is why the two get sold together rather than against each other.

So: film first, coating over the top. That way the filmed panels and the bare ones behave identically when you wash the car, and you are not choosing between a hood that repels water and one that does not.

Who fits your film

The film is the easy part. The hands are not.

Every vehicle in this shop is wrapped by the owner, or by someone he trained himself. No rotating bench, no subcontractor.

Film is the least forgiving thing we do. It does not buff out.

A coating that goes on badly looks dull. Film that goes on badly lifts at an edge, holds dirt in a seam, or silvers where it was stretched too far, and every one of those is visible from ten feet away for as long as the film is on the car. There is no polish that fixes any of it — the film comes off and goes back on.

That is why the same hands do the whole job, why a full front takes three to five days instead of one, and why the panels get confirmed against your actual vehicle before anyone cuts anything. It is also why I will tell you to spend less than you came in to spend, when the coverage you want is not the coverage your car needs.

Where we work

Clear bra and PPF, fitted across El Paso County.

Every install happens in-shop at 2725 N Nevada Ave. Customers drive in from across the county for it.

Clear bra and paint protection film are the same thing — clear bra is the older name, from when film went on only the nose and the leading edge of the hood. Both terms get searched here, and both land on this shop. Coverage runs from a front bumper at $695 up to every painted panel from $5,000.

Colorado is hard on paint in a specific way. I-25 and Powers throw gravel year round, the winter sanding makes it worse, and at 6,035 feet the UV load is materially higher than at sea level. A chipped hood costs more to repaint than it would have cost to film, and a repaint is never quite the original finish again.

Film is in-shop work: controlled light, a clean room, and time for the adhesive to set. Entry-level coverage is 24 hours, Partial Front is 2 days, and anything larger is 3 to 5 days. All of it happens at the North Nevada shop.

3M film fitted at 2725 N Nevada Ave
How much does paint protection film cost in Colorado Springs?

At our North Nevada shop it runs from $695 for entry-level coverage up to $5,000 and up for a full vehicle. The steps in between are Partial Front at $1,199, Full Front at $1,999 and the Track Pack at $2,500. Which one fits depends on the vehicle and how you drive it, and the exact panels are confirmed when we look at the car.

How long does paint protection film take to install?

Entry-level coverage is 24 hours. Partial Front is 2 days. Full Front, the Track Pack and a full vehicle are 3 to 5 days. Film goes on wet and every panel is worked out by hand, so the bigger the coverage the longer it takes — there is no version of this that is fast.

Does paint protection film really self-heal?

Yes, for light scratches and swirl marks. 3M put it plainly: the film’s technology “allows minor scratches to disappear by themselves, keeping the film and your vehicle finish looking new.” Heat speeds it up, so a warm day or a warm rinse brings marks back out faster. It is not magic — a deep cut that goes through the film stays cut — but the light marring that dulls a bumper over a few years does heal out.

What is the difference between clear bra and paint protection film?

They are the same thing. Clear bra is the older name, from when film was fitted only to the front of the hood and the bumper in a bra-shaped section. Paint protection film is what the industry calls it now, and coverage runs from that same front section right up to every painted panel.

Does ceramic coating stop rock chips?

No, and this is the most common misunderstanding we deal with. A coating is microns thick — it changes how the surface behaves chemically, resists staining and makes washing easier, but it has no impact resistance. Film is the only thing that takes a stone hit. The two do different jobs and they work together: film goes on first, coating goes over the top.

When can I wash my car after paint protection film?

Wait a week. 3M’s own care guidance is to leave it one week after installation before washing or waxing, so the film’s adhesion has fully built. After that you wash it normally — and when you do wax, use one without dyes, abrasive polishes or rubbing compounds.

Should I get film or ceramic coating first?

Film first, then coating over it. That order matters — the film handles impact and the coating goes on top so the whole vehicle, filmed and unfilmed panels alike, behaves the same way when you wash it. Doing both in one visit also means the car is only stripped and prepped once.

Is paint protection film worth it in Colorado?

Rock chips here are not bad luck, they are the forecast. I-25 and Powers throw gravel year round, the winter sanding makes it worse, and at 6,035 feet the UV load is higher than at sea level. A chipped hood costs more to repaint than it would have cost to film, and a repaint is never quite the original finish again.

What film do you use?

3M, throughout. Every film in the building is 3M — paint protection film and window film both. We do not run a second brand and we do not substitute.
