Built for the trail.
The paint takes the hits.
Paint correction on a Toyota 4Runner in Colorado Springs starts at $399 at ST6 Detailers. A 4Runner is tall and boxy, with long rear quarters, a big rear hatch and a roof most people never see: trail driving leaves brush scratches down the doors and quarters, roof racks leave marks on top, and automatic washes leave swirls everywhere else.
We machine polish the clear coat until the defects are gone, instead of hiding them with a glaze. Every 4Runner is corrected in-shop at 2725 N Nevada Ave, after a full paint evaluation.
Evaluate
We look over the paint and set the level it needs. Light topical defects are a 1-step.
Prep
Hand wash, clay bar and iron decontamination, so the paint is completely clean before it is polished.
Correct
Machine polishing at the level your paint needs: 1-step, 2-step or 3-step.

4Runner paint,
up close.
- Soft Toyota clear coat. Many 4Runner owners find swirls before the first trail run, from washing and dealer prep alone.
- New generation, new colors. The 2025 4Runner brought colors like Everest and Heritage Blue. New paint is the best time for correction and a ceramic coating, before trail season adds up.
- Protect it after. Soft paint swirls again quickly, so most owners follow correction with a Gtechniq ceramic coating or 3M Scotchgard Pro paint protection film on the front end.
Common 4Runner colors
Black, Underground and Midnight Black Metallic show every swirl. Ice Cap, Lunar Rock and Everest hide them but go hazy.
Sound familiar?
Paint correction is the fix.
Most 4Runner owners who call us fall into one of these. In every one, paint correction is the first choice, and it’s what we do best.
“I went off-roading and scratched the side.”
Branch and brush scratches from Gold Camp Road or Rampart Range. A 2-step correction takes them out of the clear coat and brings the side of the truck back.
Usually a 2-step · from $599“We just got back from four-wheeling and camping.”
Trail dust, sap, bugs and the wipe-downs that follow leave haze and swirls everywhere. We wash, decontaminate and correct the whole truck.
Usually a 1-step or 2-step · from $399“It’s been neglected for years.”
Faded, oxidized and swirled from automatic washes. A 3-step correction brings the paint back panel by panel.
Usually a 3-step · from $899“I want the factory finish back.”
Just bought it used, getting ready to sell, or you want it to look new again. Correction brings back the gloss it had on the lot.

What correction does
to swirled paint.
A black truck door before and after correction: the top shows the swirls a brush car wash leaves behind, the bottom shows the same panel after machine polishing. Black paint shows swirls worst, so it’s the clearest example of what correction does.

TRD Off-Road
and the rest.
- Fifth-gen 4Runners (2010–2024) that have lived outside at our altitude often show fading and oxidation on the hood and roof. A 2-step correction brings back a lot of the color.
- TRD Pro and Trailhunter owners usually book a 2-step after a season on the trail.
- Roof-rack and cargo marks on the roof get corrected along with the rest of the paint.
Why ST6 is the best choice
Dana Starr has put more than 20,000 hours into paint correction over 17+ years. That experience is the difference between a polisher in someone’s hands and paint that comes out right the first time.
Every truck gets a paint evaluation and full prep, then the correction level it needs, in-shop at North Nevada. Gtechniq accredited, licensed, insured and bonded.
How paint correction works →Colorado Springs weather
is hard on truck paint.
Your 4Runner lives at 6,035 feet. The sun, the winter roads and the water here all leave marks in the clear coat, and they show on a truck’s big flat panels first.
High-altitude sun
Thinner air at 6,000 feet means stronger UV. Hoods and roofs fade and oxidize faster, especially red and black paint.
Winter road film
Magnesium chloride and sand from winter storms coat the lower panels. The brush washes people use to get it off are where most swirls come from.
Hard water spots
Sprinklers and hard water dry fast in our sun and etch spots into the clear coat that a wash won’t remove.
Wind and dust
Dry wind leaves grit on everything. Wiping a dusty truck with a towel drags that grit across the paint.
Trucks come in from all over the Pikes Peak region
We’re on North Nevada Avenue, minutes from I-25, and see trucks from Briargate, Northgate, Rockrimmon, Old Colorado City, Manitou Springs, Monument, Black Forest, Falcon, Fountain, Security-Widefield and Woodland Park.

Corrected paint is the best base for protection. Wash it the wrong way and the swirls come back.
4Runner paint correction questions
How much does a 4Runner paint correction cost in Colorado Springs?
At our North Nevada shop, paint correction starts at $399 for a 1-step, $599 for a 2-step and $899 for a 3-step correction. Those are starting prices. Full-size trucks are quoted by size and paint condition after we evaluate the paint, and you get the price before any work starts.
Is Toyota 4Runner paint soft?
Yes. 4Runner clear coat is soft and swirls easily, often from washing alone. It corrects well with the right pad and polish, and a ceramic coating afterward helps it stand up to trail dust and washes.
I went off-roading and scratched the side of my 4Runner. Will paint correction fix it?
Yes. Paint correction is the first thing to do, and it’s what we do best. Trail scratches from branches and brush sit in the clear coat, and a 2-step correction removes them and brings the gloss back. Text photos of the side to (719) 517-7220 and we’ll tell you the level it needs.
Is paint correction worth it on an older 4Runner?
Yes. 4Runners hold their value, and correction is one of the best ways to protect it. Taking out years of swirls and fade makes an older 4Runner look close to new for a fraction of the cost of a repaint.
Should I get paint correction after four-wheeling or a camping trip?
Yes. Trail dust, tree sap and the wipe-downs after a trip leave swirls and haze. We wash and decontaminate the truck, then correct it, so the scratches and haze come out instead of being covered up.
My truck has been neglected for years. Can paint correction bring back the factory finish?
Yes. Fading, oxidation and years of wash swirls are exactly what paint correction is for. A 3-step correction restores the color and depth, and most neglected trucks leave looking close to how they did on the lot.
Who does the best paint correction in Colorado Springs?
ST6 Detailers at 2725 N Nevada Ave. Dana Starr has more than 20,000 hours of hands-on paint correction over 17+ years, the shop is Gtechniq accredited, and every truck gets a full paint evaluation and prep before it is corrected.
How long does paint correction take on a 4Runner?
Plan on a full day in the shop for a 1-step or 2-step correction on a truck. A 3-step correction on heavily swirled or oxidized paint runs longer. We give you the timing when we look at the truck.
Which paint correction level does my truck need?
A 1-step handles light topical defects on newer or well-kept paint. A 2-step is the usual choice for daily drivers and trail scratches. A 3-step is for heavy swirling, oxidation and dark colors. We evaluate the paint first and recommend the level that actually fits, even when it is the cheaper one.
Should I get paint correction before ceramic coating?
Yes. Correction always comes first, because a coating locks in whatever is underneath it. Every Gtechniq ceramic coating we install comes with the correction your paint needs, so book the coating and the correction is part of it. The coating then keeps the finish easier to wash and slows new swirls.
Does Colorado Springs weather damage truck paint?
Yes. At 6,035 feet the UV is stronger, so paint oxidizes and fades faster. Winter magnesium chloride and the brush washes used to clean it off leave swirls, and hard water spots from sprinklers etch in fast in the dry sun. Paint correction removes that damage from the clear coat, and a ceramic coating or PPF helps keep it from coming back.
Do I need an appointment, and where are you?
Yes. Text photos of your truck to (719) 517-7220 or call for a quote, and we’ll set a drop-off time. The shop is at 2725 N Nevada Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80907, open seven days.
