How bikes differ

More surfaces, less room to work.

A motorcycle puts paint, chrome, bare metal, rubber and leather within inches of each other.

Why is a motorcycle harder to detail than a car?

Everything is exposed and everything is close together. Chrome engine covers sit next to painted tanks, powder-coated frames and hot exhaust. Each needs a different product, and a cleaner that is fine on one can stain another.

There are also far more small places — between cooling fins, behind the forks, under the tank — that take hand work rather than a wash mitt.

Which level does my bike need?

Wash and wax if it is kept clean and just needs a reset. Gold after a season of riding, when the wheels and lower frame are coated in grime and brake dust. Platinum when the paint and chrome need polishing, or when the bike is going for ceramic coating.

Coating always starts with the Platinum detail, which is why it is included in the $599 coating price.

Years in the trade

Seventeen-plus years of professional detailing. Reading a surface before touching it is the part of the job that experience buys, and it decides every step after it.

In the shop

Motorcycles are in-shop work at 2725 N Nevada Ave, on a stand, in controlled light.

Chrome, paint and powder coat

Each surface gets the right product. What is safe on paint is not always safe on bare metal or powder coat.

You know who is working on it

A local, family-run shop — Dana Starr, his two sons and a crew he has worked with for years. Licensed, insured and bonded. The same people quote the job and do the job.

Protect it

Where we work

Motorcycle detailing across El Paso County.

Motorcycles are worked on in the shop at 2725 N Nevada Ave.

Motorcycle detailing, bike detailing, chrome polishing and motorcycle ceramic coating are one trade: a machine with far more exposed surfaces than a car and a lot of small places to get into. We work on cruisers, touring bikes, sport bikes, adventure bikes and customs.

Front Range riding means bugs on the fairing, sand and mag chloride on the lowers in spring, and sun at altitude on a painted tank all summer.
