Vinyl and mildew

What a season on the water does to a cockpit.

Marine vinyl is tough, but sun, sunscreen and trapped water all work on it at once.

Why does boat vinyl get mildew spots?

Water gets into seams and under cushions, the boat gets covered, and the damp stays trapped in the dark. Mildew grows in exactly those conditions and shows up as grey or black speckling across white vinyl.

Caught early it cleans out. Left for seasons, it stains the vinyl itself, which is what the deep restore level is for.

After

Does conditioning really matter?

Yes. Sun at altitude dries out vinyl, and dried vinyl cracks at the seams. Conditioning with UV protection is what keeps seats soft and stops the cracking that ends in reupholstery.

It is included from the detail and condition level up.

Can every stain come out?

Most do, especially sunscreen, dirt and early mildew. Mildew that has been in the vinyl for years can leave a shadow even after it is killed and cleaned.

We will tell you honestly from the photos what is likely to come out before you book the deep restore.

Where we work

Boat interior detailing across El Paso County.

Boats come into the shop on the trailer, or we come to the slip, the storage lot or the driveway.

Boat detailing, marine detailing, hull cleaning and gel coat oxidation removal cover the same work: a hull that sits in water and sun, a waterline that collects scum, and an interior that takes sunscreen, spills and damp. We work on wake and ski boats, bowriders, pontoons and fishing boats.

Front Range boating is high-altitude boating. The sun is harder on gel coat and vinyl at elevation, and a season on Lake Pueblo, Rampart or a mountain reservoir shows up as chalky hull sides and faded seats.

Tell us the length, the hull and where the boat is, and send a few photos. You get a real starting number before anything is booked.
