Big panels.
Hard Colorado miles.
Paint correction on a Chevy Silverado in Colorado Springs starts at $399 at ST6 Detailers. A Silverado has a lot of flat, upright paint: a tall hood, wide doors, long bedsides and a big tailgate, so every swirl from a brush car wash, dry towel or trail branch shows on panels that size.
We machine polish the clear coat until those defects are gone, instead of filling them with a glaze that washes out in a month. The work is done in-shop at 2725 N Nevada Ave, after a full paint evaluation.
Evaluate
We look over the paint and set the level it needs. Light topical defects are a 1-step.
Prep
Hand wash, clay bar and iron decontamination, so the paint is completely clean before it is polished.
Correct
Machine polishing at the level your paint needs: 1-step, 2-step or 3-step.

Silverado paint,
up close.
- Soft clear coat. Owners of 2019-and-newer Silverados often find wash scratches within the first few weeks. The clear coat marks easily, and Black shows it most.
- Soft, but particular. It scratches easily, yet it takes the right pad, polish and machine speed to finish down crisp. That finishing step is what separates real correction from a quick buff.
- Tintcoat and Tricoat. Radiant Red Tintcoat and Iridescent Pearl Tricoat are layered finishes. We correct them in controlled passes so the color keeps its depth.
- Protect it after. Soft paint swirls again fast, so most Silverado owners follow correction with a Gtechniq ceramic coating.
Common Silverado colors
Black and the dark grays show swirls first. Summit White hides them but goes flat and chalky and shows water spotting.

Paint correction is the fix.
Most Silverado owners who call us fall into one of these. In every one, paint correction is the first choice, and it’s what we do best.

Trail dust, sap, bugs and the wipe-downs that follow leave haze and swirls everywhere. We wash, decontaminate and correct the whole truck.

What correction does
to swirled paint.
A black truck door before and after correction: the top shows the swirls a brush car wash leaves behind, the bottom shows the same panel after machine polishing. Black paint shows swirls worst, so it’s the clearest example of what correction does.

Trail Boss
and the rest.
- Trail Boss and ZR2 trucks come in with brush scratches down the bedsides from Rampart Range Road and Gold Camp Road. Most of those are in the clear coat and polish out.
- High Country and LTZ trucks carry a lot of bright trim around big painted panels, and swirls show right next to it. Correction brings those panels back to a clean, deep finish.
- Fingernail scratches in the door-handle cups and the tailgate handle area get worked by hand with a small pad.

How paint correction works →Colorado Springs weather
is hard on truck paint.
Your Silverado lives at 6,035 feet. The sun, the winter roads and the water here all leave marks in the clear coat, and they show on a truck’s big flat panels first.
High-altitude sun
Thinner air at 6,000 feet means stronger UV. Hoods and roofs fade and oxidize faster, especially red and black paint.
Winter road film
Magnesium chloride and sand from winter storms coat the lower panels. The brush washes people use to get it off are where most swirls come from.
Hard water spots
Sprinklers and hard water dry fast in our sun and etch spots into the clear coat that a wash won’t remove.
Wind and dust
Dry wind leaves grit on everything. Wiping a dusty truck with a towel drags that grit across the paint.
Trucks come in from all over the Pikes Peak region
We’re on North Nevada Avenue, minutes from I-25, and see trucks from Briargate, Northgate, Rockrimmon, Old Colorado City, Manitou Springs, Monument, Black Forest, Falcon, Fountain, Security-Widefield and Woodland Park.

Corrected paint is the best base for protection. Wash it the wrong way and the swirls come back.
Silverado paint correction questions
How much does a Silverado paint correction cost in Colorado Springs?
At our North Nevada shop, paint correction starts at $399 for a 1-step, $599 for a 2-step and $899 for a 3-step correction. Those are starting prices. Full-size trucks are quoted by size and paint condition after we evaluate the paint, and you get the price before any work starts.
Is Chevy Silverado paint soft?
Yes. Newer Silverado clear coat is soft and picks up wash scratches quickly, especially on Black. It corrects well with the right pad and polish, and a ceramic coating afterward helps keep it that way.
I went off-roading and scratched the side of my Silverado. Will paint correction fix it?
Yes. Paint correction is the first thing to do, and it’s what we do best. Trail scratches from branches and brush sit in the clear coat, and a 2-step correction removes them and brings the gloss back. Text photos of the side to (719) 517-7220 and we’ll tell you the level it needs.
Can paint correction fix swirls on a black Silverado?
Yes, and black is where correction makes the biggest difference. Wash swirls on Black and dark metallic Silverados come out with a 2-step, and the paint gets its depth back.
Should I get paint correction after four-wheeling or a camping trip?
Yes. Trail dust, tree sap and the wipe-downs after a trip leave swirls and haze. We wash and decontaminate the truck, then correct it, so the scratches and haze come out instead of being covered up.
My truck has been neglected for years. Can paint correction bring back the factory finish?
Yes. Fading, oxidation and years of wash swirls are exactly what paint correction is for. A 3-step correction restores the color and depth, and most neglected trucks leave looking close to how they did on the lot.
Who does the best paint correction in Colorado Springs?
ST6 Detailers at 2725 N Nevada Ave. Dana Starr has more than 20,000 hours of hands-on paint correction over 17+ years, the shop is Gtechniq accredited, and every truck gets a full paint evaluation and prep before it is corrected.
How long does paint correction take on a Silverado?
Plan on a full day in the shop for a 1-step or 2-step correction on a truck. A 3-step correction on heavily swirled or oxidized paint runs longer. We give you the timing when we look at the truck.
Which paint correction level does my truck need?
A 1-step handles light topical defects on newer or well-kept paint. A 2-step is the usual choice for daily drivers and trail scratches. A 3-step is for heavy swirling, oxidation and dark colors. We evaluate the paint first and recommend the level that actually fits, even when it is the cheaper one.
Should I get paint correction before ceramic coating?
Yes. Correction always comes first, because a coating locks in whatever is underneath it. Every Gtechniq ceramic coating we install comes with the correction your paint needs, so book the coating and the correction is part of it. The coating then keeps the finish easier to wash and slows new swirls.
Does Colorado Springs weather damage truck paint?
Yes. At 6,035 feet the UV is stronger, so paint oxidizes and fades faster. Winter magnesium chloride and the brush washes used to clean it off leave swirls, and hard water spots from sprinklers etch in fast in the dry sun. Paint correction removes that damage from the clear coat, and a ceramic coating or PPF helps keep it from coming back.
Do I need an appointment, and where are you?
Yes. Text photos of your truck to (719) 517-7220 or call for a quote, and we’ll set a drop-off time. The shop is at 2725 N Nevada Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80907, open seven days.
