Machine polishing that removes defects rather than filling them, on the entire vehicle rather than the panels you see from the driveway. A coating locks in whatever is underneath it, so this is not the stage to skip — it is the one that decides what you are looking at for the next several years.

Straight answer
If it is not, we will say so. Selling somebody nine years of coating on a car they are trading in next spring is not a win for anyone.
A daily driver you are keeping a few years. A truck that sees I-25, gravel roads and a Colorado winter, where you want the washing to get easier and the finish to stop dulling off, without spending $1,599 on a vehicle you may not own in five years.
A car you are keeping a decade, or one where you want a manufacturer guarantee in your name. Both of those point at the Ultra.
Guarantee
A manufacturer guarantee is not the same thing as a shop promising to look at it again. This is Gtechniq’s position on this coating.
EXO is not one of the four coatings Gtechniq list on their guarantee portal, so the 3-Year does not come with a registered manufacturer guarantee. It is a durable coating and it is the right call for a lot of vehicles — it just is not paperwork.

Accreditation is granted by Gtechniq to installers who have completed their training and met their installation standards. It is issued by the manufacturer — not a certificate a shop awards itself or buys off a shelf.
Accreditation is what releases the professional Gtechniq systems, including Crystal Serum Ultra, which is not sold retail. These are not the consumer products sold in a box online.

3MPaint Protection Film

A coating will not stop a rock. I-25 and Powers throw gravel year round, and chips on a hood are not bad luck here — they are the forecast. Film is the only thing that takes the impact, and it goes under the coating so you keep the gloss on top of it.
3M tint · from $375
At 6,035 feet the UV load is materially higher than at sea level, and it works on your interior the same way it works on paint. Tint is what keeps a dashboard from going grey and a cabin from cooking in the Colorado sun.

It comes down to how long you are keeping the vehicle. The 3-Year is 3 years at $899; the Ultra 9-Year is 9 years at $1,599. If you are selling inside a few years the shorter term is the honest answer, and if you are keeping it, the longer one costs less per year.
Keep it dry for the first 12 hours, which is Gtechniq’s cure window, then wait 24 hours before the first proper wash. After that it is every four to six weeks with a pH-neutral shampoo.
