Short answer

How much does paint correction cost in Colorado Springs?

At our North Nevada shop a 1-step correction is $399, a 2-step is $599 and an advanced multi-step correction is $899. The level is set by what the paint needs, which we show you under the light before any work starts — not by which number you walked in with.

  • 1-step$399
  • 2-step$599
  • Multi-step$899

Three levels of correction

Priced by how much the paint needs taking out.

Each level is a real step up in time and in how many passes the paint gets. Removal rates are typical figures for each level; deep scratches that go through the clear coat cannot be polished out at any level.

Stage 1 · 1-step

Paint Enhancement

$399starting

A single machine polish that takes out light spider-web swirling and haze and brings the gloss back. The right choice for newer or well-kept paint.

  • Typically removes 50–60% of visible defects
  • One polishing stage
  • Light swirls, haze and dullness
  • Better than it left the factory

Best for: New or well-maintained vehicles.

Stage 2 · 2-step

Color Restoration

$599starting

A cutting stage followed by a finishing polish. Takes out moderate swirling, light scratches and the dullness that makes a colour look flat.

  • Typically removes 80–85% of visible defects
  • Cut, then refine
  • Moderate swirls and light scratches
  • Restores colour depth

Best for: Daily drivers with years of wash marring.

Stage 3 · Multi-step

Advanced Correction

$899starting

Heavy compounding, an intermediate polish and a fine finishing stage for maximum clarity. A multi-day job, done in the shop.

  • Typically removes 95%+ of visible defects
  • Compound, polish and jewel
  • Heavy swirling and oxidation
  • Multi-day, in-shop

Best for: Dark colours, show cars and neglected paint.

Ceramic coating at ST6 already includes full paint correction in the coating price — if you are coating the car, you do not book correction separately.

What paint correction is

It takes the damage out. It does not cover it up.

Most swirl marks live in the top of the clear coat. Correction removes a controlled, microscopic layer of that clear coat until the scratches are gone, instead of filling them with wax or glaze that washes out.

What causes swirl marks?

Mostly washing. An automatic car wash, a dirty mitt, a towel dragged across a dry panel — each one leaves fine circular scratches in the clear coat. Under a single light source, like the sun or a garage bulb, those scratches catch the light and show up as the spider-web pattern people call swirls.

Colorado adds its own: dust on dry paint, magnesium chloride residue in winter, and hard water spotting that etches into the surface if it is left to dry.

How does machine polishing remove them?

A dual-action polisher with an abrasive compound or polish levels the clear coat down to the bottom of the scratches. Coarser pads and compounds cut faster; finer ones refine the finish afterwards. A 2-step is a cutting stage followed by a finishing stage; a multi-step adds more refinement in between.

Paint is inspected under dedicated lights between passes, because the clear coat is only so thick and the goal is to take out the defects while leaving as much of it as possible.

Why does it have to happen before a coating?

A ceramic coating is clear and hard. Whatever is on the paint when it goes on is locked under it for years — swirls included. That is why every Gtechniq coating we install starts with correction, and why correction is built into the coating price rather than sold as an extra.

If you are not coating, correction on its own still lasts as long as the paint is washed properly afterwards. Most of the damage we remove was put there by washing.

Gtechniq Accredited Installer

Correction first. Always.

17+ years · professionally trained · Gtechniq accredited

Gtechniq accredits installers because a coating is only as good as the surface under it. The correction standard that accreditation demands is the one we apply to every correction job, coated or not.

Paint correction is where a coating job is won or lost, and it is the same crew doing both.

Years in the trade

Seventeen-plus years of professional detailing. Reading a surface before touching it is the part of the job that experience buys, and it decides every step after it.

Measured, not guessed

Paint is inspected under dedicated lights before a level is recommended, and between every pass. The aim is to remove the defect while keeping as much clear coat as possible.

In the shop, in controlled light

Correction is in-shop work at 2725 N Nevada Ave. Sun and wind are the enemies of polishing; a bay with overhead lighting is not.

You know who is working on it

A local, family-run shop — Dana Starr, his two sons and a crew he has worked with for years. Licensed, insured and bonded. The same people quote the job and do the job.

Protect it once it is right

Corrected paint deserves protecting.

Correction puts the gloss back. Coating and film are how you keep it.

Where we work

Paint correction across El Paso County.

Correction is in-shop work at 2725 N Nevada Ave. Customers bring cars in from across the county for it.

Paint correction, swirl removal, scratch removal and machine polishing all describe the same job: taking defects out of the clear coat rather than hiding them. We do 1-step, 2-step and multi-step correction in the shop, in controlled light.

At 6,035 feet the sun is harder on paint than at sea level, and Colorado winters leave magnesium chloride and sand on everything. Both show up as dull, hazy paint that a wash will not fix.

Most single-stage and 2-step jobs are done in a day. Multi-step correction on dark or neglected paint can run longer, and we tell you before you book.

Paint correction questions

The things people actually ask.

Answered straight. If yours is not here, call the shop and ask.

01How much does paint correction cost in Colorado Springs?

At ST6 North Nevada a 1-step correction is $399, a 2-step is $599 and an advanced multi-step correction is $899. The paint is inspected first and you are told which level it needs before any work starts.

02What is the difference between 1-step and 2-step paint correction?

A 1-step is a single polishing stage that typically removes 50–60% of visible defects. A 2-step adds a cutting stage before the finishing polish and typically removes 80–85%. Multi-step correction adds further refinement for 95% or more.

03Will paint correction remove every scratch?

No. If a scratch catches your fingernail it has usually gone through the clear coat, and polishing cannot put clear coat back. Correction removes swirls, haze, oxidation, water spotting and light scratches that sit in the clear coat.

04How long does paint correction take?

Most 1-step and 2-step jobs are done in a day. Multi-step correction is a multi-day job, done in the shop.

05Does paint correction remove clear coat?

It removes a microscopic layer of it — that is how the scratches come out. That is why paint is inspected between passes and why the least aggressive method that gets the result is always used.

06Do I need paint correction before ceramic coating?

Yes, and at ST6 it is already included. A coating locks in whatever is under it, so every Gtechniq coating we install starts with correction and the price includes it.

07How long does paint correction last?

The defects that were removed do not come back. New ones come from washing, so the result lasts as long as the car is washed properly — or much longer with a coating on top.
