De-icer and road film
Mag chloride from early and late rides dries into a film on lowers, wheels and engine cases. Foam lifts it. Brushes grind it in.

I ride, and I’ve detailed well over 500 Harleys. Colorado is rough on them: hard sun, mag chloride early and late in the season, bugs, and hot engines that bake it all on. Here’s how I’d take care of yours.

Don’t let it sit dirty. Most of the damage we see comes from stuff left on the bike: mag chloride, bugs and road film, baked on by a hot engine and the sun at this altitude. Wash it soon after the ride, and protect it so the next wash is easier.
Harleys are most of the bikes we work on. See our Harley detailing.
Three things: de-icer and road film on the lowers, strong UV on dark and custom paint, and grime baked onto hot engines and pipes.

UV is stronger at altitude, and dark and custom paint show fading and marring first. Protected paint holds its gloss.

Bugs and road grime on a hot engine and exhaust bake on hard. Wash it cool, and soon.
Let it cool, foam it before you touch it, do chrome by hand with separate towels, then dry it completely. It’s the same order our crew uses in a driveway.

Let the engine and pipes cool fully. Cover the air intake and any open connectors, then foam the whole bike and let it dwell before you touch it.

Separate mitts and towels for chrome, paint and wheels. Polish chrome by hand with a dedicated chrome polish, lightly.

Soft detail brushes around fins and covers. Gentle water, never a blast at seals or electrics.
Colorado water is hard, and drops dry into spots fast in our sun. Blow water out of the fins, switches and bolt heads, then towel the paint. Take a short ride to dry the brakes before it goes back in the garage.
Match the level to how you ride: Wash & Wax $199, Gold $299, Platinum $399, or a Gtechniq coating for $599 with the Platinum included. All are mobile or in-shop.

More for riders.

After any ride on wet or treated roads, and at least every couple of weeks in riding season. Mag chloride and bug residue do the most damage when they sit.
Gently, from a distance, and never straight at electrical connectors, bearings, the air cleaner or gauges. Foam and a soft hand wash do most of the work.
Header bluing is heat discoloration in the metal. A chrome polish can lighten it, but it often won’t come out completely, and we tell you that before we start.
For a bike that gets ridden, yes. Coated paint and chrome release bugs and road film with a wash. Our Gtechniq motorcycle coating is $599 and includes the Platinum detail.
Wash & Wax is $199, the Gold Motorcycle Detail $299 and the Platinum Motorcycle Detail $399. Big touring bikes can take longer at each level.
Detail it before it goes away so nothing sits on the paint or chrome all winter, keep it dry and covered with a breathable cover, and follow Harley-Davidson’s owner’s manual for the battery and fuel.
No deposit to book. You pay after the work is finished and you have looked at it.
