Why a Harley page

Over 500 Harleys. Every one mattered.

This page isn't here to chase a keyword. Harleys are most of the bikes we detail, and nothing else on two wheels is built quite like them.

GtechniqAccreditedPro-grade coatings, installed to their standard.

I've detailed well over 500 Harleys, and I ride myself. People work hard for these bikes. Some save for years to get one, and they want to keep it right.

A Harley has more chrome, more custom paint and more ways to get it wrong than anything else I work on. So it gets the time it needs. Not a car wash with a motorcycle squeezed in.

We know the machine.

Milwaukee-Eight or Twin Cam, Road Glide or Softail. We know where road film hides and what each finish can take.

We respect the build.

Custom paint, aftermarket parts, chrome picked piece by piece. Nothing gets a product it can't handle.

We tell you straight.

If header bluing won't fully come out or a chip needs paint, you hear it before we start, not after.

Your bike, your schedule. We come to your driveway with water and power, or book the bike in.

What a Harley needs

Chrome, Denim, clear coat and everything between.

A Harley puts thin chrome, matte paint, multi-color clear coat, plastic, leather and fabric within inches of each other. Every surface gets its own product.

How do you clean Harley chrome without hazing it?

Chrome is the finish people notice first, and the plating is thinner than most riders think. Pipes, primary and derby covers, the air cleaner, rocker boxes and wheels get a chrome-safe cleaner and a soft hand, never an abrasive pad on a bright surface.

Heat bluing is a different problem. Some color near the heads is normal heat, and polishing can often soften it. Bluing far down the pipe can point to how the engine is running, so we tell you and suggest you mention it to your mechanic. Anything that will not come back, you hear before we start.

Denim, matte and multi-tone paint: what is the difference?

Denim and other matte paints cannot be polished. Harley’s own service guidance says scratches in Denim cannot be rubbed out and polishing slowly turns it glossy. A Denim bike gets a matte-safe wash and detailer, and no wax, sealant or machine polish at any level.

Newer fairings and tanks often carry two or three colors, graphics and pinstripes under a clear coat. That clear can be polished to take out swirls, but edges, color breaks and graphic lines are where it is easiest to cut too far, so they are worked by hand.

Do you detail Road Glides, Street Glides and other baggers?

Yes. Fairings, saddlebags and Tour-Paks mean more painted surface and more places for road film, bugs and mag chloride to hide, so a bagger takes longer at every level. Dried bugs get softened under a damp towel, not scrubbed off.

Windshields are plastic: a plastic-safe cleaner, never ammonia, which yellows them permanently, and never in direct sun. Water stays away from bag seals, the audio system and electrical connectors, and air never gets blasted into the speakers.

Leather, vinyl or Harley’s newer fabric seats?

Leather gets cleaned, then conditioned and protected so it does not dry and crack in Colorado sun. Harley’s newer seats mix in fabric and textured panels, and those need a fabric-safe cleaner, never leather conditioner or anything greasy that leaves the seat slick.

Want rain and spills to bead off the fabric? Ask about Gtechniq I1 Smart Fabric protection, the same product we use on car upholstery.

Harley-safe, every time

What we never do to your Harley.

Most Harley damage from detailing is not bad luck. It is the wrong product or the wrong habit. These are the rules on every bike we touch.

Never wax or polish Denim or matte paint.

It turns glossy in patches, and that cannot be undone.

Never ammonia on the windshield.

Ammonia yellows the plastic permanently.

Never a pressure washer at bearings, seals or wiring.

Low-pressure rinse, bottom up, like Harley recommends.

Never wash a hot bike.

Hot chrome bakes water spots and cleaner onto the finish.

Never water into bag seals or under leather bag covers.

What is in your bags stays dry.

Never forced air into the speakers.

The audio gets dried by hand.

Never tire shine on the tread or anything on the brakes.

Grip matters more than gloss.

Never leather conditioner on fabric seats.

Wrong product, slick seat.

Every product matched to the finish it touches. Tell us your model and paint, and we plan the detail around it.

Where we work

Cooper Ave dispatch. Colorado Springs service.

Mobile appointments dispatch from 512 Cooper Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80905.

Motorcycle detailing, bike detailing, chrome polishing and motorcycle ceramic coating are one trade: a machine with far more exposed surfaces than a car and a lot of small places to get into. We detail Harley touring bikes, Softails, Sportsters, CVOs and customs.

Front Range riding means bugs on the fairing, sand and mag chloride on the lowers in spring, and sun at altitude on a painted tank all summer.

Tell us your make, model, condition and location. We confirm service access, timing and the price before your appointment.

Harley-Davidson detailing questions

The things riders actually ask.

Answered straight. If yours is not here, call the shop and ask.

01How much is Harley-Davidson detailing in Colorado Springs?

Wash and wax is $199, the Gold Motorcycle Detail is $299 and the Platinum Motorcycle Detail is $399. Gtechniq motorcycle ceramic coating is $599 including the Platinum detail. Large touring bikes can take longer at each level, and you are told before you book.

02Can you wax Harley Denim paint?

No. Harley’s service guidance says polishing Denim slowly makes it glossy and scratches in it cannot be rubbed out. A Denim or matte bike gets a matte-safe wash and detailer only, with no wax, sealant or machine polish at any level.

03Can you polish a multi-tone or clear-coated Harley fairing?

Yes. Multi-color paint and graphics under a clear coat can be polished to remove swirls, and that is part of the Platinum detail. Edges, color breaks and graphic lines are worked by hand so the clear is never cut through.

04What do you clean a Harley windshield with?

A plastic-safe cleaner and a clean microfiber, out of direct sun. Never ammonia: Harley warns it permanently yellows the windshield. Dried bugs are softened under a damp towel first instead of being scrubbed.

05Can you get the blue off Harley exhaust pipes?

Often it can be reduced with a chrome-safe polish, and some color near the heads is normal heat. Bluing far down the pipe can point to how the engine is running, so we tell you. Deep discoloration in thin chrome plating will not fully come out, and you hear that before we start.

06Is it safe to pressure wash a Harley?

Not up close on bearings, seals, electrical connectors or bag seals, where pressure forces water in. We hand wash and rinse at low pressure from the bottom up, on a cool bike.

07How do you clean Harley fabric seats?

Harley’s newer seats mix fabric and textured panels with leather or vinyl. Fabric gets a fabric-safe cleaner, never leather conditioner or anything greasy. Gtechniq I1 Smart Fabric protection is available if you want rain and spills to bead off.

08Do you detail Road Glides, Street Glides and other baggers?

Yes. Fairings, saddlebags and Tour-Paks add surface and time, so large touring bikes can take longer at each level. Water stays away from bag seals and the audio system, and speakers are dried by hand.

09Can you ceramic coat a Harley?

Yes. Gtechniq Ultra Motorcycle Coating is $599 and includes the full Platinum Motorcycle Detail, with coating protection for the rims, painted surfaces and plastics.
