Professional black plastic trim restoration: gray bumpers, mirror caps, cowls and fender flares brought back to deep black. The restorer soaks into the plastic and dries to the touch, so it does not wash off in the first rain like a dressing. Packages from $125.

Audi R8 · 5-year ceramic coating

I brought my Audi R8 to ST6 Detailers for a 5-year ceramic coating over the vinyl wrap and also elected to have the rims re-coated. This is a show car, so I’m extremely careful about who I allow to work on it.

It was honestly a relief to bring the car to a company that knew exactly what they were doing and wasn’t learning or being trained on my vehicle. I’ve had some bad experiences with shops in the past, and finding someone with the proper experience and attention to detail to work on an R8 is harder than you would think.

The car came out phenomenal. The wrap looks incredible, the wheels came out great, and the level of care they took with the entire vehicle was exactly what I was looking for. I would absolutely trust ST6 Detailers with my R8 again and highly recommend them to anyone with a high-end or specialty vehicle.

BMW M5 · Lifetime ceramic coating

ST6 Clear Bra & Ceramic Coatings in Colorado Springs did an incredible job on my Blue BMW M5! I went with their Lifetime Ceramic Coating Package, and the results are outstanding. They coated my rims, glass, painted surfaces, and trim, leaving everything looking better than showroom new.

Dana and his team are true professionals — extremely knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and passionate about what they do. You can tell they take pride in their work. If you’re looking for high-quality ceramic coating, paint protection film (PPF), or clear bra services in Colorado Springs, I highly recommend ST6 Ceramic Coatings.

They’re hands down the best in the business for performance finishes and long-term protection.

2026 Ford F-150 · Fluid Film undercoating

I wanted to get my brand new 2026 Ford F-150 undercoated to help protect the frame and undercarriage from rust and corrosion, especially with Colorado winters. I heard these guys use Fluid Film, so I decided to give them a try. Brought my truck in and they did the entire undercoating for $350. Phenomenal job! They were thorough, knew exactly what they were doing, and the price was very reasonable. Definitely recommend these guys if you’re looking to protect your vehicle long-term.

Why trim fades

Why does black plastic trim turn gray? Sun and road chemicals.

Unpainted plastic has no clear coat protecting it. At 6,035 feet, Colorado Springs gets more UV than sea-level cities, and that UV breaks down the surface of the plastic until it goes chalky gray. Winter mag chloride and high-pH touchless washes dry it out faster.

  • UV at altitudeThe main cause. Mirrors, cowls and bumper tops fade first.
  • Mag chlorideRoad brine leaves white residue in the grain and dries the plastic out.
  • Shiny dressingsSilicone sits on top, washes off in a week and the gray comes back.

Seeing gray on your bumper? That is oxidation, and it comes back black.

Real ST6 work

Is trim restoration just a shiny dressing? No. It soaks in.

A store-bought plastic restorer or dressing is mostly an oil that sits on the surface. The black trim restorer we use is a dye that penetrates the plastic and dries to the touch, so it is not greasy, it does not sling onto paint and it does not attract dust. Both photos are the same piece of plastic, half done, so you can see the difference.

  • Dry to the touchNo greasy film, nothing to wipe off on your jeans.
  • Even factory blackDeep color across the grain, not a wet-look shine.
  • Every grooveRight up to the glass and the seam where plastic meets paint.

How ST6 does it

What happens during a trim restoration? Four steps. Prep is most of it.

In-shop
  1. 01DegreaseEvery dull, oxidized piece is degreased so old dressing, wax and road film are off the plastic.
  2. 02Dry 100%Not mostly dry. Water in the grain makes the color go on blotchy, so we wait.
  3. 03Work it inThin, even passes worked into every groove, with doors and hatches open for the trim you cannot see.
  4. 04Edge checkWe go back over every edge so no dye is left on paint, then it stays away from water for 6 hours.

Keep it dry for 6 hours. If rain is in the forecast we will tell you before you pick it up.

Fleet & construction accounts

Do you restore trim on fleet vans and work trucks? Yes.

Construction vans, work trucks and company vehicles

Faded bumpers and mirror caps make a company vehicle look older than it is. We restored the trim on this Great West Construction Ford Transit at our North Nevada shop, and trim can be added to any fleet detail schedule so the whole fleet matches.

How much does trim restoration cost in Colorado Springs?

At ST6 Detailers on N Nevada Ave, $125 for a typical car, crossover or small SUV. Full-size trucks, vans and vehicles with wide fender flares or a lot of black trim are quoted by how much trim they have.

Is there a discount if I book a detail too?

Yes. Add trim restoration to a Gold Detail or Platinum Detail and it is 40% off: $75 instead of $125, done in the same visit.

Is a professional trim restoration better than a store-bought plastic restorer?

Usually, yes. Most parts-store plastic restorers and trim dressings sit on top of the plastic and wash off in weeks. Our black trim restoration uses a pro-grade restorer that soaks in, after the plastic is fully degreased and dried, with doors and hatches opened and every edge checked. If you would rather do it yourself, our step-by-step guide shows how.

Can you restore faded black trim on a truck or Jeep?

Yes. Fender flares, bumpers, mirror caps and the black trim on trucks, Jeeps, Broncos, 4Runners and vans are quoted by how much trim the vehicle has. Most cars and small SUVs are $125.

How long does it take?

A few hours in the shop for most vehicles. The plastic has to be degreased and completely dry before the restorer goes on, and that prep is most of the time.

How long does restored trim last?

Months, not a week. The restorer soaks into the plastic and dries to the touch instead of sitting on top like a silicone dressing. Strong sun, high-pH touchless washes and winter mag chloride wear on it over time, and a touch-up brings it back.

When can I wash the car or drive in the rain?

Keep the restored trim away from water for at least 6 hours. After that, normal hand washes are fine.

Will it get on my paint?

Not when it is done right. We work up to the edge where plastic meets paint, then go back over every edge so no dye is left on the body.

What parts can be restored?

Unpainted exterior black plastic and vinyl: bumpers, mirror caps, fender flares, lower door trim, windshield cowls, door handles and step pads.

Do you restore trim on fleet vehicles?

Yes. ST6 restores trim on construction vans and work trucks at the North Nevada shop and can add it to a fleet detail schedule.
