German paint.
Corrected right.
Paint correction on a BMW in Colorado Springs starts at $399 at ST6 Detailers. It takes the swirls, wash marring and fine scratches out of the clear coat on the hood, roof and doors, where automatic washes, dry towels and dealer prep leave their marks first.
Paint correction is machine polishing: we remove a controlled, microscopic layer of clear coat until those defects are gone. It is done in-shop at 2725 N Nevada Ave, after a full paint evaluation.
Evaluate
We look over the paint and set the level it needs. Light topical defects are a 1-step.
Prep
Hand wash, clay bar and iron decontamination, so the paint is completely clean before it is polished.
Correct
Machine polishing at the level your paint needs: 1-step, 2-step or 3-step.

BMW paint,
up close.
- Hard clear coat. BMW clear coat runs on the hard side. It takes more cutting time and the right pad and compound to remove defects, and a rushed polish on hard paint leaves the swirls in.
- Solid black is the toughest. Jet Black is a non-metallic paint with no flake to hide behind, so every swirl and buffer trail shows. Finishing it clean takes a dedicated final polish.
- Metallics hide less than you think. Black Sapphire and Tanzanite Blue look forgiving in the shade, but swirls jump out in direct sun at our altitude.
- Holograms from past polishing. Many BMWs we see were polished before and left with buffer trails. We remove those too, not just the original swirls.
Common BMW colors
Jet Black and Black Sapphire show every swirl. Alpine White and Mineral White hide them but go flat and show water spotting.

Paint correction is the fix.
Most BMW owners who call us fall into one of these. In every one, paint correction is the first choice, and it’s what we do best.
“The car wash swirled my black BMW.”
Automatic washes and dry towels leave swirls that show every time the sun hits the hood. A 2-step correction takes them out of the clear coat.
Usually a 2-step · from $599“The dealer left buffer marks.”
New-car prep and quick polishing leave holograms and haze. A 1-step or 2-step correction removes them and gives the paint real clarity.
Usually a 1-step or 2-step · from $399“I just bought it used.”
Years of washes from previous owners leave the paint dull and swirled. Correction brings back the gloss it had on the showroom floor.
Usually a 2-step · from $599“It’s an M car. I want it flawless.”
M3, M4 and M5 owners usually want the paint as close to perfect as it gets. A 3-step correction takes out heavy swirling and leaves the finish crisp.
Usually a 3-step · from $899Not sure which one fits your BMW? Send a few photos and we’ll recommend the level.

What correction does
to swirled BMW paint.
A black BMW hood before and after correction: years of wash swirls on the left, the same hood after machine polishing on the right. Black paint shows swirls worst, so it’s the clearest example of what correction does.

3 Series
to the M cars.
- 3 Series and 5 Series sedans are the BMWs we correct most. Daily washing leaves swirls on the hood, roof and trunk, and a 2-step correction brings the gloss back.
- X3, X5 and X7 SUVs have tall sides and a big tailgate that pick up wash marring. We correct the whole vehicle, roof included.
- 4 Series coupes and the Z4 have long, curved hoods and fenders where swirls catch the light. Those curves get worked panel by panel.
Why ST6 is the best choice
Dana Starr has put more than 20,000 hours into paint correction over 17+ years. That experience is the difference between a polisher in someone’s hands and paint that comes out right the first time.
Every BMW gets a paint evaluation and full prep, then the correction level it needs, in-shop at North Nevada. Gtechniq accredited, licensed, insured and bonded.
How paint correction works →Colorado Springs weather
is hard on BMW paint.
Your BMW lives at 6,035 feet. The sun, the winter roads and the water here all leave marks in the clear coat, and dark German paint shows them first.
High-altitude sun
Thinner air at 6,000 feet means stronger UV. Hoods and roofs fade and oxidize faster, especially red and black paint.
Winter road film
Magnesium chloride and sand from winter storms coat the lower panels. The brush washes people use to get it off are where most swirls come from.
Hard water spots
Sprinklers and hard water dry fast in our sun and etch spots into the clear coat that a wash won’t remove.
Wind and dust
Dry wind leaves grit on everything. Wiping a dusty car with a towel drags that grit across the paint.
BMWs come in from all over the Pikes Peak region
We’re on North Nevada Avenue, minutes from I-25, and see BMWs from Briargate, Northgate, Rockrimmon, Old Colorado City, Manitou Springs, Monument, Black Forest, Falcon, Fountain, Security-Widefield and Woodland Park.

BMW paint correction questions
How much does BMW paint correction cost in Colorado Springs?
At our North Nevada shop, paint correction starts at $399 for a 1-step, $599 for a 2-step and $899 for a 3-step correction. Those are starting prices. Larger SUVs like the X5 and X7 are quoted by size and paint condition after we evaluate the paint, and you get the price before any work starts.
Is BMW paint hard or soft?
BMW clear coat runs on the hard side. It resists light marring a little better than softer paints, but it takes more time and the right compound to correct, and it has to be finished carefully to leave no haze.
Why is my black BMW full of swirls?
Black paint shows everything, and Jet Black has no metallic flake to hide behind. Automatic washes, dry towels and dusty wipe-downs leave fine swirls that jump out in direct sun. A 2-step correction removes them from the clear coat.
Can you remove buffer marks and holograms from a previous polish?
Yes. Holograms are polishing marks left by a rushed job or dealer prep. We remove them with a proper correction and a fine finishing polish, so the paint looks clear in every light.
I just bought a used BMW. Is paint correction worth it?
Yes. Most used BMWs come with years of wash swirls from previous owners. A 2-step correction usually brings back the gloss and depth it had new, and it is the best start before a ceramic coating.
Who does the best paint correction in Colorado Springs?
ST6 Detailers at 2725 N Nevada Ave. Dana Starr has more than 20,000 hours of hands-on paint correction over 17+ years, the shop is Gtechniq accredited, and every BMW gets a full paint evaluation and prep before it is corrected.
How long does paint correction take on a BMW?
Plan on a full day in the shop for a 1-step or 2-step correction on a sedan or coupe. A 3-step correction on Jet Black or heavily swirled paint runs longer, and X5 and X7 SUVs take more time. We give you the timing when we look at the car.
Which paint correction level does my BMW need?
A 1-step handles light swirls on newer or well-kept paint. A 2-step is the usual choice for daily drivers with years of wash marring. A 3-step is for heavy swirling, Jet Black and M cars where the owner wants the clearest finish. We evaluate the paint first and recommend the level that actually fits, even when it is the cheaper one.
Should I get paint correction before ceramic coating?
Yes. Correction always comes first, because a coating locks in whatever is underneath it. Every Gtechniq ceramic coating we install comes with the correction your paint needs, so book the coating and the correction is part of it. The coating then keeps the finish easier to wash and slows new swirls.
Does Colorado Springs weather damage BMW paint?
Yes. At 6,035 feet the UV is stronger, so paint oxidizes and fades faster. Winter magnesium chloride and the brush washes used to clean it off leave swirls, and hard water spots from sprinklers etch in fast in the dry sun. Paint correction removes that damage from the clear coat, and a ceramic coating or PPF helps keep it from coming back.
Do I need an appointment, and where are you?
Yes. Text photos of your BMW to (719) 517-7220 or call for a quote, and we’ll set a drop-off time. The shop is at 2725 N Nevada Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80907, open seven days.
