The nine-year guarantee is Gtechniq’s, not ours.

Crystal Serum Ultra carries a nine-year guarantee from the manufacturer, registered in your name. It only exists because the coating was installed by an accredited shop. Here is what it covers, what it does not, and what you have to do to keep it.

Short answer

Does ceramic coating come with a warranty?

One of the three coatings we install carries a manufacturer guarantee you register in your own name: Crystal Serum Ultra, guaranteed nine years by Gtechniq. Crystal Serum Light is also registerable through Gtechniq’s guarantee portal. EXO v5, the coating in our 3-Year, is not on that portal — it is a durable coating, but it is not a registered guarantee, and we would rather say so here than let you find out later. The guarantee is conditional: it has to be registered, inspected once a year, and maintained properly.

Tier by tier

Which of our coatings actually carries a guarantee.

A lot of shops advertise a warranty and mean their own promise to come back and look at it. This is the manufacturer’s, held by Gtechniq, in your name.

Crystal Serum Ultra — Nine Years

Gtechniq guarantee it for nine years from the date it goes on, registered with Gtechniq in your name rather than held by us. It is conditional on the yearly inspection and on the car being maintained properly. This is the one people mean when they ask whether a ceramic coating comes with a warranty.

Included: Registered nine-year Gtechniq guarantee

Why it is installer-only

You cannot buy Crystal Serum Ultra. You can only have it applied.

This is the part that explains the guarantee. Gtechniq will not sell the product to the public, and their reason is blunt.

Applied incorrectly, Crystal Serum Ultra can only be removed from a car’s finish by wet sanding it with 1200 grit. That is Gtechniq’s own explanation for why the product is released to accredited detailers only.

Think about what that means for a guarantee. The manufacturer is agreeing to stand behind a coating for nine years on a car they will never see. The only way that is possible is if they control who puts it on. The accreditation is not a marketing badge — it is the mechanism that makes the guarantee underwritable.

It also means the guarantee and the prep are the same subject. A coating locks in whatever is underneath it, so full paint correction is inside every price we quote. You cannot guarantee a finish for nine years and cut the stage that decides what that finish is.

How it gets registered

We register it. You get the paperwork.

Registration is not something you have to chase. It happens here, at handover, before you drive away.

The coating goes on

Correction first, then the coating, then it is checked under our lights before anything is signed. Ultra is a two-day job for this reason.

We register it with Gtechniq

Through Gtechniq’s own guarantee portal, in your name, against your vehicle, with the serial number of the product that went on it. Do it at handover and it is never a problem later.

Gtechniq hold the record

The guarantee is between you and Gtechniq from that point. We are the installing shop on the record, which is who the yearly inspection goes back to.

Keep your copy

Keep the registration and the invoice together. A claim asks for proof of purchase and the serial number, and both are on the paperwork we hand you.

Registering the guarantee is Gtechniq’s system, not ours — it lives at guarantee.gtechniq.com. If you had a coating done elsewhere and were never told about registration, that is worth a phone call to whoever installed it.

The condition people miss

It needs looking at once a year.

This is the single most common reason a guarantee is not there when somebody finally needs it.

Gtechniq’s guarantee terms require the vehicle to be inspected every twelve months by the detailer who installed the coating, and the inspection itself is free of charge. Miss the inspections and the cover lapses.

That is not fine print designed to catch you out. Coatings do not fail evenly — they thin at the leading edges first, on the hood, the mirrors and the front bumper, where the car meets the weather. Caught at year three, that is a top-up on two panels. Left until year six, it is a correction and a re-coat.

Your inspection is here, because we are the shop on the registration. Call the shop and book it. If the coating is doing fine, we will tell you that and you will be on your way — and if it wants attention, our $199 coating maintenance is the service that handles it: decontamination wash, panel-by-panel check, Gtechniq top-up where it has thinned.

Scope

What it covers — and what it never did.

The guarantee is about the coating staying on and doing its job. It is not body insurance, and no ceramic coating anywhere is.

Covered

  • Staining and discolouration of the coated finish
  • Damage from UV exposure, which matters more here at 6,035 feet than most places
  • Road salt and the mag chloride CDOT runs on I-25 all winter
  • Bird droppings, tree sap, bug etch and acid rain
  • OEM gloss paint on the bodywork — the panels the coating went on
  • Repair and re-application, at no charge, where a claim is upheld

Not covered

  • Stone chips — that is what 3M paint protection film is for
  • Collision damage, vandalism and anything an insurer handles
  • Scratches and wash marring from how the car is cleaned
  • Neglect, or maintenance that ignores the aftercare guidance
  • Rust, and paint defects that were already there before the coating
  • Matte and satin finishes — this coating is for gloss paint
  • Anything caused by another product being applied over the coating

If something goes wrong

Start with us, not with a form.

A claim goes to Gtechniq with your serial number, proof of purchase and photographs, and they may send an assessor to look at the car. Call the shop first and bring it in — half the time it is something we can put right the same day, and if it is a real claim we would rather help you file it properly than have it bounced on a technicality.

3M · book it in the same visit

The coating handles gloss. 3M handles the rest.

Both are 3M product, both are quoted and priced separately — we never roll them into one number. Doing them in the same visit saves a second drop-off, and the car only has to be stripped and prepped once.

Paint Protection Film

A coating will not stop a rock. I-25 and Powers throw gravel year round, and chips on a hood are not bad luck here — they are the forecast. Film is the only thing that takes the impact, and it goes under the coating so you keep the gloss on top of it.

Window Tint

At 6,035 feet the UV load is materially higher than at sea level, and it works on your interior the same way it works on paint. Tint is what keeps a dashboard from going grey and a cabin from cooking in the Colorado sun.

Guarantee questions

What people ask us before they commit.

If your question is not here, call the shop. We would rather answer it now than have you find out in year four.

Does ceramic coating come with a warranty?

Crystal Serum Ultra does — Gtechniq guarantee it for nine years, registered in your name. Crystal Serum Light is also registerable through Gtechniq’s guarantee portal. EXO v5, the coating in our 3-Year package, is not on that portal and does not carry a registered manufacturer guarantee.

What does the Gtechniq ceramic coating guarantee actually cover?

Staining and discolouration of the coated finish, and damage from UV, road salt, bird droppings, tree sap, bug etch and acid rain on OEM gloss bodywork. Where a claim is upheld, Gtechniq repair the damage and re-apply the coating at no charge. It does not cover stone chips, collision damage, vandalism, scratches from washing, rust, pre-existing paint defects or matte and satin finishes.

Do I have to do anything to keep the guarantee valid?

Two things. The coating has to be registered with Gtechniq — we do that at handover — and the vehicle has to be inspected every twelve months by the shop that installed it. The inspection is free of charge. Miss the inspections and the cover lapses. The car also has to be maintained properly, which means washing it the way the aftercare guidance describes.

Is the ceramic coating guarantee transferable if I sell the car?

No. Gtechniq’s guarantee is non-transferable and stays with the original purchaser. It is worth knowing before you buy the nine-year tier on a vehicle you are planning to sell in three.

Why can only an accredited shop install Crystal Serum Ultra?

Because of what happens if it goes on wrong. Gtechniq’s own explanation is that applied incorrectly, Crystal Serum Ultra can only be removed from the finish by wet sanding with 1200 grit, which is why they release it to trained Accredited Detailers only. The accreditation is what makes a nine-year guarantee possible on a car the manufacturer will never see.

How do I make a claim on my ceramic coating?

Call us first on (719) 517-7220 and bring the vehicle to 2725 N Nevada Ave. A formal claim goes to Gtechniq with the coating’s serial number, proof of purchase and photographs of the damage, and they may arrange for an assessor to inspect the vehicle. We are the installing shop on your registration, so it starts here.

Still have a question

Ask before you buy, not after.

If you want to see the guarantee terms in writing before you book, say so and we will put them in front of you. Nobody should be buying a nine-year anything on a verbal.

Same-day emergency service is available and we take every form of payment. You pay once the work is finished and you have looked at it.
