01 / Start with the damage
The age of the glass is not the repair test.
A newly purchased car and a recently replaced windshield can both suffer an impact. The fact that the glass is new does not determine whether the damage is repairable. What matters is the break itself: its location, size, depth, condition and any lines extending from it.
When you contact us, explain whether the impact is fresh or whether it has changed. Tell us where it sits relative to your view, the windshield edge and any camera housing. You do not need to know the correct technical name for the chip. We inspect the damage before recommending the service.
If a previous installer or manufacturer has provided coverage, keep that paperwork available and check the actual terms. ST6 does not assume that a new windshield’s warranty covers a later rock strike. Equally, we do not decide another business’s warranty obligations from the age of your glass.
02 / Keep the decision in perspective
An eligible repair uses the glass already in the vehicle.
Chip repair treats a suitable break without removing and replacing the windshield. That can be an appealing option when the glass was recently fitted or you want to retain the windshield already in a new car. It is an option only when the damage is appropriate for repair.
The process uses professional repair equipment and resin to treat the damaged area. An eligible repair at ST6 takes approximately 30 minutes while you wait in the lobby. All glass work is in shop; you can drive in to our North Nevada address without an appointment for chip repair.
If inspection shows that the damage is beyond repair, we quote replacement separately. A chip-repair price or duration is not a replacement quote. We keep those decisions separate so you know which service you are being offered and why.
03 / Appearance matters on a new car
Understand what a repaired chip may look like.
It is reasonable to care about the appearance of glass on a new vehicle. Repair does not guarantee an invisible result. A faint mark or part of the original damage pattern can remain after resin treatment. The result depends on the original break and its condition.
Ask about appearance before work begins, especially if the impact sits in an area you notice every time you drive. The wish to make new glass look untouched is different from the question of whether the break is suitable for repair. Both deserve a clear conversation.
A photograph on a website cannot predict your exact result. We do not present an illustration or a different windshield as proof of what your vehicle will look like afterward. Your own damage is the basis for the assessment.
04 / Cameras, coverage and next steps
Ask the vehicle-specific questions before deciding.
If your car has a camera or sensor housing behind the windshield, tell us where the damage is in relation to it. Modern equipment does not automatically make every chip a replacement, but camera-area damage should not be diagnosed from a generic size rule.
Questions about manufacturer requirements, calibration or existing warranty coverage depend on the vehicle and the work being considered. We do not promise that every repair avoids every calibration requirement or that it preserves every third-party warranty. Those details need to be checked for the actual situation.
