How RV detailing works

Big surface, same careful process.

An RV is not a car scaled up. The roof, the gel coat and the decals all need handling differently.

Why does RV gel coat go chalky?

Gel coat is a pigmented resin, and UV breaks down its surface. It starts as a loss of gloss, then turns to the white chalk that comes off on your hand. At Colorado’s altitude, on a rig parked outside for months at a time, that happens faster than people expect.

Wax on top of oxidised gel coat does not fix it. The chalk has to be polished off first, which is what the polish-and-wax and cut-polish-and-wax levels are for.

What about the roof?

The roof takes more sun than any other surface on the RV and gets looked at the least. Dirt, sap and black streaks build up and run down the sides every time it rains.

Roof cleaning is part of the exterior work, and it is usually where the black streaks on the sidewalls actually start.

Where it is parked. Always.

Around Denver we come to the rig: your driveway, a storage lot or your campsite. Our units carry their own water and power, so the RV needs no hookup and no wash bay.

Denver limits an RV over 22 feet to 24 hours in any seven days on the street, counted cumulatively, so most Denver rigs get detailed in a driveway or at their storage lot.

Gtechniq Accredited Installer

Same standard. Bigger surface.

17+ years · professionally trained · Gtechniq accredited

Gel coat, fibreglass and painted aluminium oxidise faster at altitude, and an RV spends months parked in the sun. The correction and coating standard Gtechniq accreditation requires is the one applied to every rig.

RVs are a surface-area problem. The process is the same one we use on paint, scaled up.

Where we work

RV detailing across Denver.

Mobile from our Golden base to Denver driveways, storage lots and campsites.

RV detailing, motorhome detailing, camper cleaning and RV oxidation removal are all the same trade: a very large gel coat or painted surface, a roof that takes the worst of the weather, and an interior that has to be reset between trips. We work on Class A, B and C motorhomes, fifth-wheels, travel trailers, toy haulers and camper vans.

Denver sits at 5,280 feet. The EPA puts UV about 2 percent higher for every 1,000 feet of elevation, the Front Range sits in Hail Alley, and the May 8, 2017 hailstorm was Colorado’s most expensive insured catastrophe. A rig parked outside between trips takes all of it.

Denver’s street rules are strict for big rigs: over 22 feet, 24 hours in any seven days, and a 700-foot move. So most Denver RVs live in a driveway or a storage lot, and that is where we detail them. Chatfield State Park, with 197 campsites, is a short drive southwest.

Tell us the length, the type and where it is parked, and send a few photos. You get a real starting number before anything is booked.

RV detailing questions

The things people actually ask.

Answered straight. If yours is not here, call and ask.

01How much does RV detailing cost in Denver?

Exterior work is priced by length and level: wash and wax $300–$750, polish and wax $540–$1,350, and cut, polish and wax $880–$2,200. Interior detailing is $225–$750 by size and condition. Ceramic coating, Solution Finish trim restoration and underbody work are quoted after inspection.

02Do you come to the RV in Denver?

Yes. Our mobile unit runs out of our Golden base at 2140 Braun Dr and covers Denver from the Highlands and Sloan’s Lake to Washington Park, Park Hill and Green Valley Ranch. We bring our own water and power to your driveway, a storage lot or your campsite.

03How long can an RV sit on the street in Denver?

Denver’s code (§54-464) limits an RV longer than 22 feet, or a trailer attached to a vehicle, to 24 hours in any seven-day period on public right-of-way, counted cumulatively, and the rig has to move at least 700 feet. An RV of 22 feet or less falls under the general 72-hour rule (§54-465). We plan the detail around that, or work in your driveway or at storage.

04Can you detail my RV at a storage lot?

Usually, yes. Check your facility’s rules on outside vendors first, and we’ll plan around gate and access hours. Many west-metro rigs live in the Highway 72 storage lots northwest of Arvada, which we cover too.

05Do I need to provide water?

No. Our mobile units carry their own water and power. That matters under Denver Water’s 2026 Stage 1 drought rules, which limit how residents can wash vehicles at home.

06Should I wash my RV after driving I-70 or I-25 in winter?

Yes. CDOT treats state highways like I-70 and I-25 with magnesium chloride products, says they have some corrosive properties and recommends washing vehicles after every snowstorm.

07Can you remove oxidation from RV gel coat?

Yes. Chalky, faded gel coat is polished back at the polish-and-wax level, and heavy oxidation gets the full cut, polish and wax. Wax alone over oxidation does not fix it.

08Do you clean RV roofs?

Yes. Roof cleaning is part of the exterior work, and it is usually where the black streaks on the sides start.

09Is ceramic coating worth it on an RV?

For a rig that is parked outside between trips it is one of the better uses of a coating, because the RV takes months of continuous sun. The gel coat is corrected first, and the price is quoted after we see it.

10What types of RV do you detail?

Class A, B and C motorhomes, fifth-wheels, travel trailers, toy haulers and camper vans.
