Gtechniq ceramic coating on corrected gel coat and paint. Priced after we have seen the rig, because size and oxidation move it more than anything else.

How RV detailing works

Big surface, same careful process.

An RV is not a car scaled up. The roof, the gel coat and the decals all need handling differently.

Why does RV gel coat go chalky?

Gel coat is a pigmented resin, and UV breaks down its surface. It starts as a loss of gloss, then turns to the white chalk that comes off on your hand. At Colorado’s altitude, on a rig parked outside for months at a time, that happens faster than people expect.

Wax on top of oxidised gel coat does not fix it. The chalk has to be polished off first, which is what the polish-and-wax and cut-polish-and-wax levels are for.

What about the roof?

The roof takes more sun than any other surface on the RV and gets looked at the least. Dirt, sap and black streaks build up and run down the sides every time it rains.

Roof cleaning is part of the exterior work, and it is usually where the black streaks on the sidewalls actually start.

Where it is parked. Always.

Around Golden we come to the rig: your driveway, a storage lot or your campsite. Our units carry their own water and power, so the RV needs no hookup and no wash bay.

Golden only allows an RV on the street in front of the owner’s home for 72 hours while loading or unloading, so we book the detail inside that window or meet you at storage.

Gtechniq Accredited Installer

Same standard. Bigger surface.

17+ years · professionally trained · Gtechniq accredited

Gel coat, fibreglass and painted aluminium oxidise faster at altitude, and an RV spends months parked in the sun. The correction and coating standard Gtechniq accreditation requires is the one applied to every rig.

RVs are a surface-area problem. The process is the same one we use on paint, scaled up.

Years in the trade

Seventeen-plus years of professional detailing. Reading a surface before touching it is the part of the job that experience buys, and it decides every step after it.

Gel coat corrected first

Coating or sealing over chalky gel coat locks the dullness in. Oxidation comes off first, on every job.

Where we work

RV detailing across Golden and the west metro.

Mobile from our Golden base at 2140 Braun Dr to driveways, storage lots and campsites.

RV detailing, motorhome detailing, camper cleaning and RV oxidation removal are all the same trade: a very large gel coat or painted surface, a roof that takes the worst of the weather, and an interior that has to be reset between trips. We work on Class A, B and C motorhomes, fifth-wheels, travel trailers, toy haulers and camper vans.

Golden is hard on a rig in a specific way. The EPA puts UV about 2 percent higher for every 1,000 feet of elevation, the May 8, 2017 hailstorm dropped baseball-sized hail on parts of Golden and Lakewood, and CDOT treats I-70 and US-6 with magnesium chloride every winter. The National Weather Service in Boulder warns of foothill winds from 60 to near 100 mph.

Most trips from Golden climb I-70. CDOT describes Floyd Hill as tight curves and steep grades, and the Eisenhower–Johnson Tunnels top out at 11,158 feet with 7% approaches, so the front cap, lower panels and wheels come home coated. Close to home, Golden Gate Canyon State Park’s Reverend’s Ridge has 59 electric sites, and Clear Creek RV Park in town is open year-round.

Tell us the length, the type and where it is parked, and send a few photos. You get a real starting number before anything is booked.

RV detailing questions

The things people actually ask.

Answered straight. If yours is not here, call and ask.

01How much does RV detailing cost in Golden?

Exterior work is priced by length and level: wash and wax $300–$750, polish and wax $540–$1,350, and cut, polish and wax $880–$2,200. Interior detailing is $225–$750 by size and condition. Ceramic coating, Solution Finish trim restoration and underbody work are quoted after inspection.

02Do you come to the RV in Golden?

Yes. ST6’s west-metro mobile unit is based at 2140 Braun Dr in Golden. We bring our own water and power to your driveway, a storage lot like A-One Storage on Indiana Street, or your campsite.

03Can you detail my RV while it’s parked on the street in Golden?

Golden allows an RV or travel trailer on the street directly in front of the registered owner’s home for up to 72 hours while loading or unloading, and no more than five 72-hour periods a year (GMC 10.04.260). We book the detail inside that window, or work at your storage lot.

04Can you meet me at Clear Creek RV Park or Dakota Ridge?

Yes, if the park allows outside service. Clear Creek RV Park is owned by the City of Golden and open year-round, and Dakota Ridge RV Park on West Colfax offers full hookups. Ask the office first, then send us your site number.

05Can you remove oxidation from RV gel coat?

Yes. Chalky, faded gel coat is polished back at the polish-and-wax level, and heavy oxidation gets the full cut, polish and wax. Wax alone over oxidation does not fix it.

06Do you clean RV roofs?

Yes. Roof cleaning is part of the exterior work, and it is usually where the black streaks on the sides start.

07Is ceramic coating worth it on an RV?

For a rig that is parked outside between trips it is one of the better uses of a coating, because the RV takes months of continuous sun. The gel coat is corrected first, and the price is quoted after we see it.

08What types of RV do you detail?

Class A, B and C motorhomes, fifth-wheels, travel trailers, toy haulers and camper vans.

Send the rig

Length, type and where it is parked.

Class A, C, fifth-wheel, trailer or van — and a few photos.

Tell us the length, the type and what it needs, and send photos of the worst areas. We will come back with a real starting number and a time to come to the rig.
